Poco F2 has long been one of India's most anticipated smartphones, although its existence has never been truly confirmed. Although Poco India occasionally uses it for humorous purposes, we may have just received concrete evidence of its launch.
Poco F2 will be the successor to Poco F1. Poco F1 is generally regarded as one of the most cost-effective flagship products ever. It brings a series of high-end specifications and features, reaching unprecedented prices, making it immediately popular with the media and consumers. Not surprisingly, many people have been waiting for follow-up actions that may disrupt the high-end smartphone market.
The latest development comes from an interview with "India Express." Anuj Sharma, Director of Poco India, talked about the brand's product strategy at the meeting. For those who are just starting out, Poco currently has three lineups in India-Poco C, M, and X series. These occupy the 10,000 rupees, 15,000 rupees, and 20,000 rupees market segments. After being questioned about the fate of the F series, Anuj shared: "Poco F1 is a device that has changed the market, and consumers expect subsequent products to do the same. Poco F2 Pro is not that kind of device. We are working hard to provide Poco F1 brings a true successor, but it takes time to develop it."
This is the first time the company has acknowledged the existence of Poco F2. Taking into account the proposed timetable, it may be launched sometime next year. It is unclear how much DNA it will share with some other smartphones from Xiaomi or Redmi.
One of the main points of Poco F1 is its price. Recently, the prices of most smartphones have risen due to factors such as the depreciation of the rupee, import tariffs, supply chain disruptions, and higher cost components (such as 5G modems). If mobile phones are to be cheaper again, these devices need to be stabilized to a certain extent.
The interview also covered some topics, such as why Poco resorted to other Xiaomi mobile phones to rebrand, its own software platform, and its entry into other product categories. In the near future, we should see the release of Poco Pop Buds, the company's first truly wireless headset.
